A learning content audit can reveal duplicated, outdated and hard-to-find assets before teams invest in new course development. This article outlines the four-stage process our MetaLark Content Intelligence Toolkit uses to help organizations identify and make sense of what can be diverse and massive repository of digital resources and learning assets.
Much of the challenges stems from the fact content exists everywhere; in the LMS (in one or even multiple systems for many teams), in cloud repositories like Microsoft SharePoint or Google Drive, in CMS platforms, in authoring tool drives, on server drives and even on your own laptop!
For most organizations, the problem is visibility not volume. And there are cleaver, easy and economical ways to automatically scan and make sense of all that content, find/eliminate duplicates, reveal mapped skills, uncover insights and patterns, measure learning effectiveness (via Blooms), measure compliance and much more.
Once everything is broken down to it molecular level and organized for search (via RAG), teams can then improve or transform what’s really valid and aligned with your objectives back into your current LMS, or migrate what’s actually relevant into an alternative authoring tool or LCMS, or even into an enterprise LLM for agentic AI access.
